Second week back in the shop and I've started working on my next project. I've had this idea in my mind for a while and over the summer after riding around in a couple shopping carts I decided to make it a reality with my motorized shopping cart project. I spent this week mostly looking for parts and thinking of ideas for the shopping cart. The biggest issue I encountered with the cart design is a rear axle. Because if I used the go kart axles I found on amazon I would have to jack the cart which is basically lifting one wheel up so it can turn. I couldn't find any axles with a differential and I wasn't about to make a differential but then I settled on this tricycle rear axle with a built in diff. for batteries I am going with lead acid car batteries because the heavier weight of these batteries will help the antiroll capabilities. And as for steering I plan on welding the front part of a bicycle to the cart to steer. I've also begun work on the CAD model. The whole project will take probably the whole year but I am dedicated.
