Week 11/6-11/10

This weeks blog post will be short due to this week being an extra shortened week with only 3 days to the school day and also the Juniors and Seniors missing 6th period for gym on Wednesday. All I have been doing this whole week was modeling the entire zoetrope for my project. Last week I left off after modeling the motor housing and this week I started on Monday with the bottom base of the Zoetrope. The core to my design is a sandwich sort of design where there is 3 pieces of wood stacked on top of each other and glued but the center one is hollow allowing wires to feed through. The bottom base, support beams, and LED housing all use this sandwich design.

After completing the bottom base I moved on to the LED housing which required some more fine tuned measurements. The idea for the LED housing is that the LEDs would rest on a sort of wire frame made out of wood. The LEDs needed exact measurements that way I could make this not atrociously inefficient. And like the bottom base the LED housing is in a sandwich design except the top layer will not be glued on and will be removable that way the LEDs can be accessible in case they need to be fixed.

Hopefully this week I can finish up modeling the support beams which will be the most aesthetically interesting part of the model. It will feature a truss design and I am going to try to make it curvy and have a nice flowing look to it. Hopefully next week will be more productive than this one.
