This week was a very productive week as my axle has finally arrived and I could get some good progress done on the shopping cart. The axle I ordered from Amazon came with the pillow block bearings, sprocket, brake disc, brake calipers, chain, and wheels for the axle so I wouldn't have to order all those parts separately which would've cost me more money. Before I got the axle I started work on remaking my model for the shopping cart because I didn't take accurate measurements the first time so I found the exact angles of the bottom base and I created a new model with a new mounting system for the axle because it wasn't going to fit with my original idea.
The idea is to weld square steel tube stock beneath the cart and have the axle be mounted to the stock with plates welded on and then bolted in. The axle itself was at the same time much bigger than expected but also smaller than expected. It was too short in length but the wheels were larger than I expected. I got some help assembling the axle and when it was fully assembled it was sturdy and not broken for what I could see although the quality of the parts was a little subpar. It took me, Scott Campbell, and Wenjamin Birz to fully assemble the axle. We had to torque down all the screws using a torque wrench then I accidentally sheered the cotter pin for the wheel nut but we had spares luckily.
