This week was the first productive week in some time. Last week I ultimately decided to remake my zoetrope. I did a complete redesign of the model and am now on my my third iteration. The first was one was unique but way too large and I couldn't use the LEDs I designed for it. The second one was too ugly and the walls just really were not nice. But the third and current design is by far my favorite combining aspects from both my past models. I brought back the truss design in the legs that hold up the LED from my first model but I kept the size of second one. This design I am debating adding the walls again however the idea was to use acrylic as for the walls and then use a one way mirror film on the acrylic so light couldn't pass through.
I also did some shopping around this week looking for new LEDs to use on the zoetrope because Mr. Christy suggested making my own LED panel. Making my own panel would have it's benefits because then I can manipulate and change the panel as I pleased to fit my zoetrope how I need it to and I can get more wattage out of it. So I found some LEDs and got them ordered along with an LED driver all of which I had to spend a couple days searching for. Next week I will probably try cutting the zoetrope out of cardboard , experiment with new animation ideas, or starting a little side project as a gift while I wait for the parts to arrive.
I also had the idea to etch something on to the acrylic on the sides of the wall and put a neopixel under it because then it could also serve as like a small mini lightbox.
